The Memory Project Recruits New Speakers from the 22nd Regiment
Québec, April 2 – The Historica-Dominion Institute’s Memory Project Speakers Bureau participated in the regimental orientation day for the 22nd Regiment to recruit new speakers.
“It’s a great honour to be invited to the orientation day of the 22nd Regiment,” stated Brigitte D’Auzac de Lamartinie, Senior Manager of Programming at the Historica-Dominion Institute. “During a year that marks many important anniversaries, such as the 95th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Dieppe, and the 55th anniversary of Lester B. Pearson receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, the Memory Project Speakers Bureau is pleased to continue the discussion of the contributions of the Canadian Forces, past and present. We hope we will continue this inter-generational dialogue by inviting every veteran and currently serving Canadian Forces member to join the Memory Project Speakers Bureau to share their stories with the next generation of Canadians.”
She continued, “The Memory Project Speakers Bureau continues to expand our program in Québec. On March 20th, the Memory Project visited Aubier Secondary School in Saint-Romuald. Today, we had the privilege of speaking to new members of the Canadian Forces Base Valcartier during their orientation day. We are always seeking new speakers and we are thrilled about the reception we received today.”
The Memory Project Speakers Bureau is a national bilingual initiative of the Historica-Dominion Institute. The program facilitates speaking engagements between veterans and currently serving Canadian Forces personnel and classrooms and community groups across Canada. With more than 1,500 volunteers, the program reaches over 175,000 Canadians through over 900 visits each year. The Memory Project Speakers Bureau receives the generous financial support of the Department of Veterans Affairs Canada.
