In May, the Memory Project interviewed veterans in Calgary and Edmonton. A wide-range of interviews was conducted, from a veteran who served with the First Special Service Force in the Second World War to a Korean War veteran of the Battle of Kap’yong. The Calgary event was notable because of one story in particular. The Calgary Korean Lions Club connected the Memory Project with South Korean veterans of the Korean War, including Mr. Duk Soo Kim, previously an officer in the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army.

Started in 2009, the Memory Project sees veterans from across the country filmed recounting their experiences in their own words, which is edited with photos and memorabilia — often provided by the veterans themselves.
