Michael Wiggins

Speaking Topics:

Army, Conflict in Afghanistan, Peacekeeping, Remembrance, Careers

My name is Mike Wiggins. I'm currently a Master Warrant Officer in the Army and I've been serving with the Canadian Armed Forces since 1989. I've been all over Canada and I've deployed on 4 operational missions to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Afghanistan. I've also participated in flood relief operations in Winnipeg and Calgary. I've experienced many facets of life in the military and enjoy sharing my stories with the young and old alike. I often speak with young people about the values our military embodies and on the importance of civic responsibility as a means to honour our fallen soldiers, sailors and air force personnel. With adult or seniors groups, I'm able to speak on many subjects including leadership, coping with difficult circumstances, dealing with change and (my favourite) challenging question and answer sessions! I typically prefer a less formal atmosphere but am equally comfortable participating in formal functions. I look forward to meeting with Canadians of all ages and adding to their understanding of our military and the people within it.

The Memory Project includes a community of over 1,500 veterans and Canadian Forces members who are committed to sharing their stories of service.
