Bio of Michael Poole Michael Hudson Poole, father Donald Hudson Poole, d 24 Jan 2011, mother Cicely Hilda Williamson, Kenneth John Poole Born14 March 1955, at Grace Hospital, Vancouver B.C. Schools attended Gilmore Elementary, Lady of Soroes, Vancouver College( boys school), Hugh Boyd jr high, Stevenston sr High. Have two children Grant Hudson Poole 6 January 1983 Frederick NB, he is now an Ammunition tech., and Lindsey Sarah Poole 11 March 1985 CFB Larhar West Germany .Grant married Lara-Lee Pepin, and now have three children. The fall of 1970 went to a scout troop, the next month joined, 2964 cadet’s, Royal Canadian Engineer Corps in Richmond B.C. Did a summer camp in Vernon B.C. as Cadet 71. Then two summers as a Cadet Callout to Vernon in 72one as General duties, and weapons security guard, the next year as driver for the canoe course 73. Joined 6th Field Royal Canadian Engineers, North Vancouver 72 Moved to Vernon B.C. transferred to the “ British Columbia Dragoons” 75 Did a UN tour in Egypt UNEF II March78 – Sept 78 Enlisted regular army in Feb 79 in Vancouver , sent to Gagetown N.B. VIII CH , (8th Canadian Hussars Princes Louie’s ) crazy eight’s , B Squadron where rebadged to the Royal Canadian Dragoons . Did two Reforger exercises in Germany while in Gagetown . Posted to Germany August 83 to the Dragoons Till 87 . Posted to Land Engineering Testing Establishment (LETE ). Ottawa , Where he remustered to the Logistics Branch as a Supply Tech. After graduation posted from LETE May 89 to 2 Svc Bn Petawawa. Packed stores for the gulf war for 1 Canadian Field Hospital, also was on standby to replace a injured comrade. Posted back to The Royal Canadian Dragoons August 91 Posted to Central Medical Equipment Depot Aug 94 Posted to 1 Canadian Field Hospital July 98 Posted to 2 GS Bn August 2002 Tour to Bosnia October 03 – April 04 Was on hand for the amalgamation back to 2 Svc Bn , Feb 06 Same day joined Task Force 03-06 for Afghanistan While in Afghanistan ,was sent to Forward Operating base (FOB) “ Martello” 90 Km’s north of Kandahar city 33 days , (on my toes) 18 oct – 19 nov then back too camp, 5th Jan sent FOB “Spearwan Gar ) in the Panjway ‘ 30 km’s west of Kandahar city , yes the area where all the convoys get hit and we got lucky no incidents Returned on the 28th Jan. 17 Feb returned home, Returned to unit 11 April, submitted retirement paper work for 33 years service. Out of uniform June 1, final pay check August 9 . Was given position of chairmen for 219 Blenheim bomber Air Cadets 2008 to 2011. Member of the board for the Golden Acres curling club form 2010 to 2012 Present executive member of the Cpl Harry Miner VC Branch 185 Blenheim
