Cdr Corey Steiro was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts. He initially joined HMCS UNICORN in 1994 as a Naval Combat Information Operator before completing a component transfer to the regular force as a Naval Acoustics Operator in 1996. After serving three years onboard HMCS OTTAWA, which included integration into the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN Battlegroup for a deployment as part of Operation MERCATOR, he commissioned from the ranks under the Special Commissioning Plan as an Intelligence Officer. As an Intelligence Officer he has served as the Senior Staff Officer Intelligence at MARPAC, a senior analyst at Chief of Defence Intelligence, a liaison officer at the Office of Naval Intelligence, a staff officer at Canadian Joint Operations Centre, and Executive Officer of TRINITY. Additionally, as part of Operation APOLLO he deployed as the Staff Intelligence Officer in 2003, and as part of Operation ATHENA to Afghanistan in 2009. In 2011 he attended the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College where he also completed his Master’s in Defence Studies. Cdr Steiro also completed a Master’s in Strategic Intelligence in 2013 through the American Military University. Before being appointed as Commanding Officer of TRINITY in 2017 he was the Acting Division Head for the ISRD Division at the Deployable Air Command and Control Centre in northern Italy. Cdr Steiro is married to Teresa Fiume and they have two daughters, Sofia (2003) and Giorgia (2008).
