Lieutenant-Colonel Alex Haynes joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1994 under the Regular Officer Training Plan. Throughout his career as an Infantry Officer in The Royal Canadian Regiment he commanded a rifle platoon, a mortar platoon, a company, and Canada's Infantry School. LCol Haynes was also fortunate to deploy several times on overseas missions including: to Kosovo in 1999-2000; twice to Afghanistan in 2005-2006 and 2008-2009; and to Egypt in 2014-2015. He also had many unique and exciting postings throughout his career with the highlights including a two-year posting as an Aide de Camp to the Governor General of Canada; two years as the Chief of Plans for the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command; and a year as the Chief of Operations for the Canadian Army in Western Canada.
