Speaker Bio:
Sean Gardner

Speaking Topics:

Army; Conflict in Afghanistan; Peacekeeping; Science

I was the Senior Ammunition Technician for the Canadian Forces (bombs and bullets) and over the years I have gone to many different levels of classrooms, churches and clubs to deliver lectures on a variety of subjects.

I have deployed multiple times (Afghanistan, Bosnia, Croatia) and spent a total of 25 years in the Canadian Army.

I have delivered lectures to school kids on various topics such as:

  • The Afghanistan Mission and its impact (good for all grades, I tailor the material for the age group) and I have plenty of hands-on props like scorpions and spiders in plastic, rocks from Afghanistan and so on.
  • Explosives as a science! I have delivered this from Grade 4 to Grade 12.  I tailor the material for the age group but I have found that grades 6 to 8 get the most out of it.  Newton’s laws and blast effects.

The Memory Project includes a community of over 1,500 veterans and Canadian Forces members who are committed to sharing their stories of service.
