Hi my name is George Myatte and I retired from the Canadian Forces in 2013.I was a Corporal in The Royal Canadian Regiment during the Cold War, Gulf War and war in Bosnia. We won the Governor Generals Unit Accommodation for our part in opening the Airport in Sarajevo. As a Regiment,3rd Battalion, while posted to Germany watched as the Berlin Wall came down and history was made around the world.
Over the past 10 years I have been a guest speaker at many schools in the London and greater area. Myself and a group of veterans from conflicts around the world usually accompany me to schools on Remembrance Day. We are on a mission of Remembrance and this next couple of years are very important as many battles such as Vimy Ridge turn 100 years. Of all my experiences nothing effected me more than the Canadian Battle field tours I took in France, Belgium and Holland. From that date forward I promised I would pass there legacy onto another generation.
With the help of other veterans we are doing just that. We have spoken to more that 10,000 kids of all ages and continue to look for ways to spread the word of Remembrance. I look forward to hearing from you as to what I can do to make your experience for the class or school much more memorable. George M. Myatte
