Transcript

We were digging out trenches, we left our guns on the ground, naturally, and I don’t know yet how those Germans got behind us. And they come ahead and naturally they had us, we had no guns at the time. And they were right happy, they were singing and everything. They had quite a bunch of us. I don’t know yet how we left our guns far away from us. But you couldn’t dig with a gun in your hand. So anyway, they took us along. I guess they didn’t know where they were themselves. So they took us in “B” Company, toward “B” Company. In “B” Company, one of the guys there, one of the Bren gun men, opened fire above our heads, and we got down. We took them prisoner.
