CWO Byers joined the military in 1986 in Toronto Ontario. He has served aboard two of Her Majesties Canadian Ships (HMCS), the HMCS Skeena and the HMCS Toronto. After completion of duties at 12 Wing Shearwater, he was subsequently posted to 8 Wing Trenton where he work on the CC130H and completed one tour in support of Operation Athena in Afghanistan. After this he was posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake to work on the CF18. With this tour over, he was sent back to 8 Wing Trenton to work on the new CC130J aircraft. He was employed in a staff position and the RCAF Aerospace Warfare Center before becoming a Chief Warrant Officer and working with 431 (AD) Sqn, the Snowbirds, in Moose Jaw. CWO Byers is quite comfortable discussing any topic from airspace maintenance to his experiences throughout his tours of duty aboard ships or abroad in other capacities.
