"Well, they’d have dances and things like that for the members of the army."

There was five of us in the family. My father was in the militia. I never joined the army until I was 18. Did my training in Fredericton. I didn’t get overseas until World War II. During the Second World War, there was things going on in Fredericton where servicemen could go and visit. Well, they’d have dances and things like that for the members of the army. Well, there was quite busy there, you know, during the war, in those places where we could go to - clubs and things. It was put on by the army and so forth. Well, it wasn’t too bad, you know, there was certain things were hard to get at times. Well, you were rationed for, like, sugar and things like that.
